KIIT World organized a Seminar of great significance in today's perspective i.e. ‘Emerging Trends in Wireless and Mobile Communication' on 31 January 2009. The Seminar was inaugurated in KIIT Campus in a colourful function amidst lighting of traditional lamp and recital of shlokas. Shri B.R.Kamrah, Chairman Vidyapati Sansthan, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Chief Executive and other dignitaries were present during the occasion. KIIT CSI student's Chapter collaborated with CSI Delhi Chapter in conducting the Seminar. Computer Society of India (CSI), established in 1965 is the largest IT professional society of India that promotes interchange of ideas and information on computer and information technology in India . It also represents India in the International Federation of Information Processing. In this Seminar theme lectures by experts and paper presentations by participants were the main attractions. Students and faculty of KIIT also presented papers on topics like Mobile Computing, Mobile Commerce and Communication, Wireless Network, New Generation Networks etc. Several eminent speakers from IPU, CDAC, Noida and MDU delivered talks in the Seminar to highlight the growing importance of this area and its wide ranging application. Prof. S.S. Agrawal, Executive Director KIIT welcomed the invited speakers, guests, paper presenters, students and the KIIT faculty. In a lead paper on “Autonomic Computing and Network Management” Prof. P.S.Grover, Advisor, KIIT and a senior member, CSI explained the new paradigms on the basis of similarities between the human Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) and Automatic Computing. Prof (Dr) P. C. Jain, Head of School of Electronics at C- DAC, NOIDA presented a paper on “ Current Trends in mobile Computing and Communication” He talked about mobile support station, GSM, CDMA, Blue-Tooth and Internet . Dr. B.V Ramana Reddy, Professor and Dean, GGS Indraprasth University , spoke on “Wireless Generation -Past, Present and Future”. He gave roller coaster ride on generations of wireless technology from 1G to 5 G - how we have moved from voice centric to data centric and now to video centric systems which needs huge bandwidth.
Mr. Anand sehgal, Lecturer ( IT & Management ) KIIT spoke on “ Mobile commerce-A Blue Ocean strategy” He explained the bound less e- commerce possibilities of the mobile computing strategy along with the rapid advances in the new marketing environment. Prof. (Dr) Nupur prakash, adviser, ICFAI, NOIDA presented a paper on “Wireless broadband Access using Wi-max standards”. She explained the IEEE standards of Wi-Max 802.11, 802.15, 802.16 which facilitate the freedom from wire for connectivity. She also discussed various technologies used in WPAN, WLAN and WMAN. Mr. Yogesh Punjpatra, Lecturer, IT & Management, KIIT delivered a talk on Mobile Computing” He explained TCP / IP and HTTP protocols and their limitations. He then explained Wireless Application Protocols (WAP). Mr. Vinay Mishra, student MCA (KIIT) spoke on“ Mobile Computing- An Implementation Perspective” Mr. Santosh, student, B,Tech ( KIIT) spoke on the “Fourth Generation Network”. Mr. Maharaja Kumar Gaurav, student, BBA (KIIT) and Ms Kanika Puri, student of B.Tech ( KIIT) presented a paper on “ Wireless Technology in Wi-Fi- Advantages and Limitations.”
Shri B.R.Kamrah, Chairman presented the mementos and certificates to all the paper presenters on the occasion. Faculty and students of KIIT gained much needed knowledge in this rapidly growing field of Wireless and Mobile Communication. Prof. M. Sen Gupta, Principal KIIT College of Education and Prof Syal, Principal KIIT College of Engineering chaired the presentation sessions. At the end of the function Shri O.P. Bhatia, Deputy Registrar gave vote of thanks to all those present in the Seminar.
